Available: Griffinia bulbs: 1 Griffinia espiritensis bulb and 2 Griffinia liboniana. Griffinia are South American miniature evergreen bulbs of the Amaryllis family. They are grown in a 4-6 inch pot in a good african violet soil. They like moist soil, no sunlight as they burn easily, and do very well indoors or in a shaded warm greenhouse. They will go dormant if exposed to temps in the 50s F (10-13 C) range. They flower repeatedly during the year with a flower stock similar to an Amaryllis but the flowers are unique shades of blue to mauve-blue. The libonia are the smaller species and display pretty white spotted leaves. The two species hybridize readily. Individuals bulbs are not self fertile when flowering nor fertile with clone bulbs. They are quite rare, but easy to grow. All will have developed good roots off the bulb and some may be leafed out. I will mail these ONLY within Canada as I believe a CITES permit is required out of country.
Bulbs are $35.00 Cdn. plus postage.
My original bulbs were imported from Thailand and California. These two species can be Googled to see their flowers.
