Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii Compacta'
Plant & Photo: Robert Streul, USA

Robert Streul:
This particular cultivar has been around for quite some time and is a direct descendent from Sansevieria trifasciata. It is shorter and less wide than a full size trifasciata, however, under the correct conditions it has been reported to reach 30 inches tall. The variegated edges are rather wide having a deep yellow color. The centers of the leaves is a very dark green and shows very faint banding. At times some of the leaves can grow with a slight twist which adds to the beauty of the plant. A bit slower growing than the trifasciata and needs less water.
Leaf cuttings will normally produce trifasciata growth but the grower could be surprised by a growth of 'Nelsoni' occasionally. This is a highly desirable plant and while it is a slower grower, once the pot is filled with several plants, it becomes a rather showy decorative specimen.
I have yet to see my plants flower and from what I know, this cultivar does not flower readily.
